Paleoart: Pond Feeding Centrosaurus

Description

The water colors are back with a simple mixed media painting of a quiet scene in late cretaceous Canada, 75 million years ago. Most of the time, the Centrosaurus (Aperus) wanders the dry land feasting on ferns, shrubs, and many other plants. However, at certain times of year, they try something a little different. This large bull has made its way into a shallow lagoon to feed on water plants, which are highly nutritious and rich with minerals not present in it's normal diet.

I hope to be able to paint & draw more scenes like this. Scenes that allow dinosaurs to just be like real animals, and do things modern day creatures do. Copying niches and techniques even that are present in modern day mammals, but still modeling fundamental behavior on birds and crocodiles, their closest cousins.

Hope you like it,
~Alex

if the centrosaurus nose horn curves down forward and not pointed up then maybe that is a sign that the Einiosaurus is actually not its own species but simply just a subspecies of Centrosaurus that is only native to the state of Montana
